Dr. Brian Mast Appointed President of Mount Dora Christian Academy

Dr. Brian Mast

Dr. Brian Mast has been named President, effective December 1st, 2019.  Dr. Mast’s appointment follows the retirement of Dr. James Moore who has served as President since 1990. As President, Dr. Mast will have responsibility for advancing the organization’s educational and spiritual leadership.  He will report directly to the Board of Trustees. Parents and members of the community interested in meeting Dr. Mast are invited to attend an informal ‘Meet the President’ event being held on December 6th from 5:00-7:30 p.m., at the Mount Dora Christian Academy Samuels Student Center.

Dr. Brian Mast comes to Mount Dora Christian Academy and Children’s Home  (MDCA&CH) from Lipscomb University (Nashville, TN) where he most recently served as Associate Provost for Academic Support Services, Director of the Academic Success Center, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, and Assistant Professor in the College of Education.  With over 15 years of academic leadership, he has served as an Executive Principal at Nashville Public Schools and has teaching experience at both the High School and University level. Some of his achievements include increasing retention and graduation rates at Lipscomb University and providing key leadership to the daily operations of the Academic Success Center and Center for Teaching and Learning.  His significant leadership experience will be a true benefit to the future positive growth at MDCA&CH.

Outgoing President, Dr. James Moore says, “I’m excited about Dr. Brian Mast being selected as the new President. He has a proven record of remarkable administrative and leadership skills. He has been a classroom teacher, principal in K-12 schools, athletic director, and spent several years in higher education as a professor and associate provost. His extensive background in leading educational institutions has equipped him to lead our organization to new heights of growth and success. He also has a passion for our children’s home and single parent program.”

Incoming President Dr. Brian Mast says, “It is my great pleasure and honor to have been named president of Mount Dora Christian Academy & Children’s Home.  It is my desire to continue the tremendous success of the academy and to continue building on the solid foundation that previous president Dr. James Moore laid. The most exciting and important work for me will be working alongside the wonderful students, parents, faculty, staff, and the greater Mount Dora community.  I am humbled that God has charged me with leading Mount Dora Christian Academy & Children’s Home and I look forward to continuing the wonderful mission of educating students for life and eternity.”

More About Dr. Brian Mast:

Dr. Mast has been married 24 years to wife Lorri and they have a daughter named Ella and a son named Eli. Dr. Brian Mast holds a Doctorate in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN), a Master of Education from Tennessee State University (Nashville, TN) and a Bachelor of Social Work from Lipscomb University (Nashville, TN).  While employed at Lipscomb University, Dr. Mast developed a track record for success. His leadership has been invaluable to the organization and to the success of its students. Dr. Mast was the Executive Principal at Antioch High School (Nashville, TN) and worked to improve student outcomes, implemented new curriculum and improved overall reading success. Dr. Mast also has experience as a teacher both at the University Level and in Special Education at Hillwood High School.   In his early career he served as a Case Manager and District Supervisor for MCHRA (Nashville, TN).
