Dearing Teeing off with the Pros

On Tuesday at The PGA Centennial in Palm Beach Gardens, Mount Dora Christian Academy sixth grader Caleb Dearing participated in the 82nd Centennial Tee Shot Ceremony.  Caleb was invited to be one of the 41 Junior PGA Golfers to hit one tee shot; 41 PGA and LPGA Golfers also participated in this ceremony, including Bubba Watson and Lexi Thomas. Caleb picked up a little blue plastic club at a very young age. He grew up watching his dad play golf and soon found himself swinging left handed to mirror his dad’s right hand swing and grip. At age eight he began playing competitively, and just two years later joined the Junior PGA league through Heathrow Golf and Country Club. In July of 2015 Caleb qualified for the PGA Junior League Golf All Star Team. This past fall, Caleb played on the MDCA golf team and received the Jordan Spieth Award for his incredible talent at such a young age. He had a very successful golf season and as a 6th grader almost qualified for Regionals. At the PGA Centennial Event Caleb got to meet one of his favorite players, Bubba Watson. “I love the challenge of the game of golf and all the life lessons it teachers. My greatest experience in golf was playing the same holes in Districts that I played 11 years ago with my blue plastic club,” comments Dearing.
