Visual Arts at Mount Dora Christian Academy gives students opportunities to explore their creativity, develop artistic skills, and discover their own creative voice. Through hands-on experiences with a variety of media and techniques, students learn to see, imagine, create, and communicate through art.

Creativity Takes Shape

Art education at MDCA is about both the creative process and the finished work. Students are encouraged to experiment, solve problems, develop technical skills, and grow in confidence as artists.

As they work with different materials, techniques, and forms of expression, students learn to approach their work with patience, craftsmanship, and attention to detail while discovering the satisfaction of bringing an idea to life.

ELEMENTARY

Explore & Discover

Younger students build a foundation in the visual arts through hands-on experiences that introduce artistic concepts, materials, and techniques while encouraging imagination and creative expression.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Develop & Experiment

As students grow, they expand their skills, experiment with new techniques and media, and begin making more intentional creative choices in their work.

HIGH SCHOOL

Refine & Create

High school artists have opportunities to deepen their understanding of the visual arts, strengthen technical skills, develop more sophisticated work, and pursue their individual artistic interests.

From Studio to Classroom

Creating the work is only part of the experience. Throughout the year, students have opportunities to share their artwork with the MDCA community through displays, exhibitions, special events, and the annual Elementary Art Show.

Art With Purpose

Through the visual arts, students learn that creativity can be more than personal expression. It can communicate ideas, tell stories, connect people, and reflect the gifts God has given them. At MDCA, we want students to develop those gifts with skill, confidence, and purpose.
