Alumni Spotlight: Josef Alleyne
Josef Alleyne, class of 2013, grew up in Tavares and attended MDCA (CH&BS at the time) from preschool all the way through 12th grade. He was active in all aspects of the school experience including Mu Alpha Theta, Senior Beta, Marching Band, and was a founding member of our service club, The Way. Josef also played on the football, basketball, and track and field teams. He is a member of the exclusive seven year sports club for both football and track and field.
His accomplishments in high school provided the opportunity to play football at Harding University. Josef later transferred and began attending Seminole State College. He graduated from UCF in 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
After getting his degree, an idea came to him to serve his community in a new way. Josef had been involved in sports his entire life. “It has always been a part of me. I see my career as an opportunity to give back to the sports environment that gave me so much.” Josef decided to start his own athletic training company, titled “Alleyne Athletics”.
“I started a performance training company after graduating from UCF in order to raise the level of training in the area. I believe that Central Florida has outstanding talent, but it is underdeveloped. My mission is to develop that talent and turn Central Florida into a powerhouse, pumping out athletes.”
Along this path, he has learned the complexities and nuances of different sports and wants to impart this knowledge to the next generation. His program is focused on building young athletes’ physical literacy and making them stronger, faster, and more influential in their communities.
Josef is a great testament to the athletic program at MDCA and is a great example of helping others. To current students at MDCA, he says, “Commit to your studies. It may seem pointless at the moment, but it definitely matters. Education is the foundation of success.”
Alleyne Athletics is hosting its 1st Annual Summer Showcase on MDCA’s campus this summer of 2021. The showcase will give athletes from all over Florida in grades 6-12 a chance to get proper laser times and compete against some of the biggest names in the state. The event will be held on June 5th at MDCA from 9 am-12 pm. It will be a great opportunity for all athletes to kick the summer recruiting season off with updated times and numbers.
