Growing in Confidence & Independence
Middle school marks an important transition in a student's educational journey. At MDCA, smaller class sizes help students feel known and encouraged as they take greater ownership of their learning, pursue new interests, deepen their faith, and build the skills and confidence they need for high school and beyond.
Middle School Hours: 8:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Wednesday Dismissal: 2:15 p.m.

As middle school students begin asking deeper questions and developing a stronger sense of who they are, MDCA gives them opportunities to grow in their understanding of Scripture and their relationship with God.
Through Bible classes, chapel, prayer, service, classroom conversations, and relationships with Christian teachers, students are encouraged to think deeply about their faith and discover what it means to live it out in everyday life.

MDCA provides a rigorous curriculum aligned with Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards while helping students adjust to higher academic expectations and greater responsibility.
Building on the foundation established in elementary school, students strengthen their critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Teachers balance increasing academic expectations with the guidance and encouragement students need during these transitional years.
Beyond the Core

Middle school is a time to discover new passions, build skills, and become more involved in the school community. At MDCA, those opportunities extend both inside and outside the classroom.
Through Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Gateway, students engage in hands-on, project-based STEM learning. Current courses include App Creators, Computer Science for Innovators and Makers, and Medical Detectives.
Students can also participate in clubs, organizations, Fine Arts, athletics, and other activities where they can build friendships, develop leadership skills, and discover their individual talents and strengths.

Greater independence doesn't mean students have to figure everything out alone. Teachers work alongside students as they learn to meet higher expectations, build stronger study and organizational habits, advocate for themselves, and take greater responsibility for their work.
Students who benefit from additional academic assistance also have access to resources through the Wishart Academic Success Center.

Middle school serves as an important bridge between the foundations of elementary school and the opportunities of high school. As students progress, they develop stronger academic skills, greater independence, and the habits they need to navigate increasingly challenging coursework and greater academic choice.
