MDCA's Peer Helper Program, now in its second year, has taken on a new group of students in 4th and 5th grade, and has expanded into a year long class for all sixth graders.  Peer Helpers offer their fellow students encouragement and assistance with day-to-day challenges.  Peer Helpers are students who are trained to recognize when their peers may have a problem, listen to fellow students confidentially and assist them with emotional, societal, or academic struggles.  In the process of helping others improve their self esteem, Peer Helpers themselves become leaders and role models.  

The drama program at Mount Dora Christian Academy has enjoyed a long and rich tradition in the community of Mount Dora. The crew for all shows is entirely student-run.

A variety of athletics teams are offered for students beginning in 6th grade. Our experienced coaches not only teach our athletes the fundamentals of their sport, but they also encourage teamwork and time management skills to ensure students are maintaining their grades and managing their classwork. MDCA coaches build stronger relationships with their student-athletes by encouraging students to study the Bible as a team.

The MDCA Preschool offers classes for students two to four years of age. Preschool students have daily Bible and Chapel, recess, music, and art. Our certified teachers use Learn Every Day (PK2 & PK3) and Splash into PreK (PK4) to prepare our youngest minds for the future. Standardized tests are given to Pk4 students to track academic progress throughout their time in preschool.

The Elementary School focuses on strengthening student's academic readiness with daily computer lab access, iPads in the classrooms, a rigorous curriculum, and standardized testing. Curriculum guides are used by academic publishers such as Saxon, Sadlier, and National Geographic. Elementary teachers facilitate the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment three times a year to ensure each student is getting the appropriate academic structure needed to grow and succeed in their courses.

Our middle school students have the unique opportunity to participate in multiple athletic and extra-curricular activities, helping them explore their interests. MDCA offers a wide variety of courses that prepares students for academic success. The secondary school requires all 6-12th grades students to have a laptop or Chromebook with them each day to access MDCA’s academic portal for grades and assignments.
