Each and every one of us has a story to tell. Stories inspire us. Stories change us. Stories give us meaning. Our story began in 1944 and can be told through our Alma Mater.

Underneath the whispering pine trees, dear ole Mount Dora stands

In July of 1944, W.O. Norton called a meeting at the Mount Dora Church Of Christ to determine the location of his dream, a new Christian school in Central Florida. Local congregations donated funds to purchase 70 acres of land in Mount Dora to begin building the “Christian Home and Bible School.”

MDCA historic past

Christian Home & Bible School first opened its doors on September 10, 1945, to 55 students. The school’s motto was “To develop the whole child-mentally, emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually,” and on May 31, 1946, with the graduation of the first senior class of three students, it was clear that they had succeeded.

Bible school, dear Bible school, how proud we are of thee, worthy of our alma mater may we ever be.

Over the years Christian Home & Bible School students have always been proud Bulldogs. From the first a cappella group in 1947 and the long white pants of the 1961 boys basketball State Championship team to today, Mount Dora Bible School always strives to achieve greatness.

Here we come to learn of Jesus, and his blessed will, by his lasting love and kindness, he will guide us still.

Our mission as a Christian school is to provide an exemplary academic experience while educating our students for not only life but also for eternity. Daily Bible classes and chapel offer reflective and devotional opportunities allowing students to share experiences and gain wisdom from life’s challenges.

Bible school, dear Bible school, how proud we are of thee, worthy of our alma mater, may we ever be.

To better identify and market our Academy in the local community, Christian Home & Bible School recently unveiled a new name. In February of 2015 CH&BS announced the historic name change from Christian Home & Bible School to Mount Dora Christian Academy. Although our name has changed, our mission stays the same.
We encourage you to allow us to be part of your story and you to be part of ours!
