Mount Dora Christian Academy (MDCA) is a private, Christ-centered school serving more than 920 students from preschool through 12th grade. Located on 72 acres in Mount Dora, Florida, MDCA has provided a Christian education to families throughout Lake County and Central Florida for more than 80 years.
Our mission is to educate, equip, and empower faith-driven world changers in a Christ-centered, loving community. That mission shapes an educational experience designed to develop the whole student — academically, spiritually, physically, and socially.
A Strong Academic Foundation
MDCA combines high academic expectations with instruction and support designed to help students grow at every stage of their education.
Elementary students scored in the 85th national percentile in reading and 91st national percentile in math during the 2025-2026 school year. At the secondary level, students can pursue rigorous coursework, Advanced Placement courses, specialized learning opportunities through the Biomedical Sciences Institute, and academic support through the Wishart Academic Success Center.
Accredited and Recognized
Mount Dora Christian Academy is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS), Cognia, and the National Christian School Association (NCSA). MDCA is also a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) and National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and serves as an ACT, PSAT, and CLEP testing site.
The Academy has earned additional recognition for academic achievement, including AP School Honor Roll Gold recognition and CAPE Blue Ribbon School designation for MDCA Elementary
Where an MDCA Education Leads
The results of an MDCA education extend well beyond graduation.
The Class of 2026 earned more than $9.3 million in scholarships, with 41% of graduates earning Florida Bright Futures Scholarships and 25% receiving athletic scholarships to compete at the collegiate level.
Recent MDCA graduates have continued their education at colleges and universities across the country, including the University of Notre Dame, University of Florida, Rutgers University, NYU, as well as military service academies and other public and private institutions.
Opportunities to Discover Their Gifts
Education at MDCA extends well beyond the classroom. Students can participate in more than 30 competitive athletic teams, Fine Arts programs, student leadership organizations, philanthropy projects, campus ministry, peer tutoring, and other activities designed to help them discover and develop their God-given gifts. These experiences allow students to pursue their interests while developing teamwork, discipline, creativity, leadership, and confidence.
Faith at the Center
Our Christian faith is foundational to the MDCA experience. Students participate in Bible classes, chapel, service, and opportunities for spiritual growth throughout their time at the Academy.
Faculty and staff seek to create a community where students are known, supported, and encouraged to grow in knowledge, character, and faith.
A Strong Community
More than 920 students call MDCA home. For the 2025-2026 school year, MDCA achieved a 92% student retention rate and a 96% faculty retention rate, reflecting the strength and stability of our school community.
From a child’s first preschool classroom to senior graduation, MDCA provides a Christ-centered community where students are known, supported, challenged academically, and encouraged to grow in faith.
