MDCA Leads Beta

Mount Dora Christian Academy is pleased to announce the induction of two students and one faculty member into Florida Senior Beta Club Leadership. In November, 7th grader Hannah Leto was elected president of the Junior Beta Club, and in January Junior Christian Abbate was elected President of Senior Beta for the State of Florida. Media Specialist and MDCA Beta Sponsor Anne Elenz was also selected to serve as the Florida Beta State Sponsor. To be selected as President of Beta, Christian Abbate delivered a powerful two minute speech followed by a one minute campaign skit comprised of Senior Beta Club members that illustrates Abbate’s message. Christian Abbate’s message used Alice and Wonderland as a theme, tying in the all too famous words, “It’s only impossible if you believe it is.” National Beta Clubs across Florida voted and elected Christian to serve as President for the coming 2016 year. As State Sponsor, Anne Elenz will serve for three years and is responsible for planning and organizing the 2017 State Convention.

“The motto of Beta is “Let Us Lead by Serving Others” and is a perfect complement to our purpose at Mount Dora Christian Academy of helping students to strengthen their relationship with Christ, build a foundation of moral character, and achieve academic success” says Elenz. She continues, “So you “BETA” believe it, I am looking forward to the next 3 years in this special leadership role. I hope to showcase what a service powerhouse our school is both to the state of FL and to the nation.” National Beta Sponsor and Director of Leadership Shannon Meyer states that having representatives in the office of president at both levels and the state sponsor serve from the same school is a “rarity.” She continues, “I do think that the three of them serving at the same time give Mount Dora to be incredible ambassadors for the Florida state Beta club.  The sky is the limit of what the team of them could do for growth in the state.”
