It was the ending of spectacular careers by senior runners Christina McKinney and Troy Clark, who were both selected again by Bright House Sports Network as Lake County’s track and field athletes of the year.
The following records were broken by members of this year’s team: Troy Clark in the 3200 meter run with a 9:34.73; Kiley Brock in the 100 meter dash with a 12.50; Rebecca Clark in the 3200 meter run with a 11:14.03 and in the 1600 meter run with a 5:13.56; the 4×800 meter relay team (Christina McKinney, Madison Cooney, Regan Saulsbury, and Rebecca Clark) with a time of 10:13.50. The girls track team was the runner up at the TFA meet, third at the Spruce Creek meet, won the Montverde meet, and was the Lake-Sumter County Championship runner up.They won the District meet and were runners up at Regionals.
The middle school boys won the middle school championship meet and the following athletes medaled at state: Troy Clark was second in the 3200 meter run; Rebecca Clark was fourth in the 3200 meter run; Jessie Hiteshew was fourth place in the discus; and Kiley Brock was eighth place in the 100 meter dash. Cooper Monn won the middle school state track meet in both the shot and the discus, and Madison Hiteshew was fourth place in the discus.
